These terms are an agreement between you and Peekabug ("we", "us") for use of the Peekabug app and website. By using them, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
What Peekabug is
Peekabug is a nature app for identifying bugs and building a collection, for fun and learning. Identifications, facts, safety labels and answers are generated by AI and may be incomplete or wrong. Bug Brief numbers are counts of community observations from iNaturalist and describe what people have recorded, not everything that lives in a place.
Safety notice, please read. Do not rely on Peekabug to decide whether a creature is safe to touch, handle, or be near. AI can misidentify a bug or its risk. Never touch or handle wildlife based only on the app. Children should always be supervised by an adult outdoors. If you are bitten, stung, or have a reaction, seek medical help. Peekabug is not medical, veterinary, or professional advice.
Accounts
You can use Peekabug without an account. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under it. You can delete your account and its data at any time in the app.
Subscriptions and payments
- Peeka Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription, sold through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID.
- A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.
- Any free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends.
- Prices may change; we will give notice as required and changes will not apply to a period you have already paid for.
- The free features listed on our pricing page, including safety guidance and your local Bug Brief, do not require a subscription.
Your content
Photos you capture stay yours. By scanning, you grant us permission to send that photo to our AI provider for the sole purpose of identifying the bug and returning a result to you. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Third-party content
Species photos shown in Bug Brief come from iNaturalist observers under CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA licences and are credited in the app. Species pixel art is our own work. Weather comes from Open-Meteo. Maps and place search are provided by Apple.
Acceptable use
Please do not misuse the app or our services. For example, do not attempt to overload, reverse-engineer, or abuse the identification service or our proxy, and do not use the app for anything unlawful.
Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that identifications, facts, safety information or observation counts are accurate, complete, or uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Peekabug is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including any reliance on an identification, a safety label or a Bug Brief.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app. Continuing to use Peekabug means you accept the updated terms.
